Filofax Tip No. 9

So today's tip.

If you use a compact or a slimline Filofax organiser and you find that there isn't enough space for the tabs on your dividers as well as your favourite pen. Why not try using top tabs instead?

They are easy enough to make. But if you aren't the creative type and you would just like to buy some instead take a look on Etsy, there's quite a selection there.

Until the next tip happy organising.  Check out other tips here.

  1. That is a good tip. Also if you use dividers with top tabs in lieu of side ones then your pen does not push against the tabs as you close the binder. I am using a sticky top tab to denote the current month on my month on two pages insert in my compact Luxe. I wrote the word month on it so I will use the same tab for each month. I am not using month dividers since they are printed on thicker paper.

  2. That's the first thing I did when I began using the compact Calispo, since the pen kept crumpling lateral tabs with the binder closed.
I did it on the personal original too for the same reason.
I usually create them just cutting a cardboard I have previously decorated or printed and then using the top of the filofax ruler as a guide to shape the tabs.
In this way both rulers and tabs have the same shape and I find it really pleasing to the eye :)

    1. Thanks for the tip of using the ruler to shape the tab. Good one!

  3. It's a good tip for my work filofax though I don't keep a pen in it. I have side tabs A-Z for contacts and Jan-Dec for diary. It's getting crowded so I'll put other section tabs on the bottom (easier for me to see than at the top).

  4. I did this in my personal because I found it easier to have all the tabs, ruler etc on top. Also it won't squish any pages when I switch over to my ocmpacts or my original. I used the dividers that came with the binders to measure out the tabs. Pocket sized tabs for personal dividers and personal sized tabs for A5.
